Recently Tyler and I have been creating improvised music frequently in a quartet called StïŸïck with Bruce Golden and Evan Gallagher. StïŸïck's music is often dense with quick shifting textures and deliberate blurry interplay. Despite our longtime history of music making, this album is our first duo collaboration and approaches the music differently. At times the music is dense and jittery but also there are moments of stable texture, liberal use of space, and very clear interactive signaling.
The interactions here are often with the guitar and synth chasing each other in unison or complementing each other as the sonic forms are built. Normally, heavy doses of those types of interactions in a duo setting become tiresome and predictable. However, I think the  innovative nature of Tylers electronics rig and his artful approach to playing it keep this music really fresh and interesting that rewards one with multiple listens. Electronic players often  will approach their instruments in a contrasting approach to more traditional instruments played conventionally. Tyler serves this role well, but also shines when he is integrating  a more conventional melodic approach. Tyler offers a multitude of approaches here in this session that give thematic motion and variety. His spiraling skitter melodic flourishes  are a delightful challenge  to chase  and to be chased by. Enjoy the music!
